Samsung LED LCD TVs

As I mentioned in my article on LCD Televisions, I would suggest you get a model that uses LED backlighting instead of cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) backlighting. The LED technology offers darker blacks, instead of grey looking blacks. LED's hardly ever go out and offer better energy efficiency and much longer life.

Connecting Your TV to the World!

To use internet apps, you need a wired Ethernet cable or a wireless N internet connection. If you are planning on streaming movies and TV over the internet, you need a fast internet connection. I stream Netflix using a 7 mbps connection. If you are sharing the network with other users, you may want to upgrade your internet connection to an even faster speed. DSL from Qwest internet goes all the way to 40 mbps and the prices are very reasonable!

Wireless networking is not built into the Samsung TVs. To use wireless, you need a wireless internet adapter like the LinkStick from Samsung. I recommend getting a wireless N adapter for best performance. Keep in mind, you will need a wireless network connection or wired Ethernet connection to stream content. Wireless networking is fairly straight forward, but if you need help there are lots of resources on the internet or, you can hire someone locally to set it up for you.

3D TV!

3D is the newest sensation for Samsung LCD TVs and immerses you in the action like never before! You do need a few things before you can get 3D HD, like the TV, content and 3D Glasses.

The TV is the easy part, but a little more work is needed to get the content. I have written about Direct TV in other articles on this site and really do stress that they are the only way to go for content. Direct TV even has 3 full-time 3D channels and the list is growing! You need 3D glasses which are available from your retailer when you get your Television.

Another great way to get 3D content is through Blu-ray discs and 3D movies are available in the format. Samsung LCD 3D sets also have the option to convert 2D content into 3D. I have found Netflix to be the best source for Blu-ray content, but purchasing the disc is another excellent option!

Samsung LCD Accessories

Samsung has several accessories available for your new TV! If you get 3D, you will need 3D glasses. There are also LinkStick's and even kid's 3D glasses if you need them.

  • Shrek Starter Kit (Two 3D Glasses & First 3 Shrek Movies)
  • "How to Train Your Dragon†Starter Kit
  • 3D Starter Kit
  • 3D Active Glasses
  • 3D Active Glasses
  • 3D Active Glasses for Kids
  • RMC30C2 Touch Control
  • Ultra Slim Wall Mount
  • Ultra Slim Wall Mount
  • LinkStick Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter

My Conclusion...

I am very impressed with Samsung LCD TVs! Not only are they feature rich and well built, but they offer some great options like 3D and LED backlighting. I love the idea of 3D, but the technology is young and there are other newer technologies on the horizon that promise 3D without using Glasses!

It really comes down to your pocketbook. If you have the money and realize that the technology will probably be changing, I say go for it! If you are like me, you can get a regular LCD TV and wait to see what happens.

No matter what you decide, you can't go wrong with a Samsung LCD TV!
